By the way, today, I would like to introduce the matcha bowls used in shops, not products.

When you order matcha, Nana's uses Bizen ware matcha bowls. It is a famous pottery that is counted as one of the six ancient kilns in Japan. Do you know what features it has?

1) Yakimono that does not use "glaze"
"glaze" is a chemical applied to the surface of a molded vessel. As a result, it becomes glassy by firing, prevents the penetration of water and makes it shiny.
Bizen ware does not use this glaze, so "soil" is an important factor and determines the completion.

2) Use of high quality soil from the Ibe region
Bizen ware is a clay layer underground around the Ibe district of Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture. It is made from high-quality soil called "Hiyose" with fine texture and sticky texture.
"Hiyose" contains a lot of iron and is finished in a brownish color.

There is no same matcha bowl made carefully by craftsmen one by one.
